Welcome to Hope Lutheran
What We Believe
Hope Lutheran Church is part of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (www.lcms.org), a worldwide body of about 2.8 million members. “Missouri-Synod” simply identifies the location, Missouri, where German Lutheran immigrants settled in the 1840’s. There are now about 6,000 congregations of our church body in the United States.
All congregations of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod hold these essential beliefs:
- The world was created by one God
- This one God wants to be in a personal relationship with every human being
- God has personally revealed himself in Jesus of Nazareth
- The Bible is God’s Word to us, in its entirety
- Forgiveness and salvation come only through faith in Jesus’ death and resurrection
- As believers in Christ, we are called to live as disciples of our Lord and, in a loving way, carry the Gospel of Christ to all nations
- While our congregations offer various worship “styles,” God’s Word, Baptism, Holy Communion, and the Apostles’ Creed are central to all teaching and preaching
We go by the name “Lutheran Church”, but we do not worship Martin Luther. The name is simply a heritage of respect to the man who reformed the worldwide Christian Church and restored its Biblical roots and Biblical teaching.
