Hope Lutheran Church is devoted to strengthening families in the church body and the community of Linden. When families have Jesus as their focus and center, when Word, worship and prayer are the highest priorities, great things can be accomplished and great love will be present in all relationships. Hope is also committed to youth in the congregation and the community. We have a passion for involving both children and teens in all aspects of ministry and worship. Listed below are a few of our ministries specifically focused on youth and family. Family Ministry Once a month Hope offers a fun evening for families. The event time is always from 6:00pm - 8:30pm and includes a meal, activity or entertainment and dessert. There is usually a theme or focus or we just meet for fun and games. All families at Hope are invited and we encourage you to bring other families with you. Bible Presentation Every year at the start of Bible week, which is last week in November, we give all of our children their very own copies of God's word. Pre-schoolers through first grader are given The Beginner's Bible, which is ideal for parents to share both old and new testament stories with beginning readers. For second graders on up, it is the Adventure Bible, a complete NIV Bible. Junior Confirmation & Retreat Starting in 6th or 7th grade, our kids begin the two year journey known as Junior Confirmation. This ministry teaches them what it means to live a Christian lifestyle, and prepares them for servant hood within the church body. Students study both the bible and Luther's Small Catechism, write summaries of Pastor's message each week, as well as participate in group activities and discussion. The experience culminates in the Junior Confirmation Retreat, a weekend of reflection, prayer, and fun together with Pastor and church leaders. At the end of the second year, the confirmands are welcomed as servant members at Hope in a special ceremony in May. Summer Outdoor Service On one Sunday in July of each year, the tranquil setting under the trees at Meyer's Lake campground serves as our church, where we worship God and reflect on the majesty of His creation. After service we gather at the pavilion for a potluck and fellowship, and the beach is open for swimming. Christmas Express A major event as the Christmas holidays draw near is Christmas Express. Hope is the epicenter for this ministry - servants from around Linden meet at the church to pack boxes of food and other items to be distributed to needy families in our community. This is a remarkable witness for the power of God's love working through his servants. |
